Its been said that the US government has habitually tried to oppress some countries but not others, not because the other countries ideals don’t match our own as far as freedom, liberty and capitalism, but because these countries practice “successful defiance." Basically showing the largest superpower in the world that they are personally strong enough to exist without them. Their beliefs don't conform with the superpower or with those on the extreme other side, but stand alone.
Once this threat to US global dominance is perceived, this attitude of defiance must be crushed, hard and fast. Otherwise, other nations might get the same idea that it would be ok to buck tradition, alright to live by your own ideals, not important to take well-partioned handouts from the benevolent master.
I hereby affirm that this attitude of successful defiance should be brought into everyday lives; live by your own beliefs, say the most the loudest, impinge your understanding of the world on others, dial it up to 11... Take a stand so full of guile that those you stand against will feel compelled to attempt to squelch your voice.
Because its not just that you're defiant... Its that you are successful at it. When you throw down that hard, have unconventional convictions that strong and singular, with the willinginess to defend them, in your own way, on your own terms, its going to be awfully hard to knock you down.
Kurt Vonnegut Jr once said, “If you’re not [a liberal or conservative] in this country, you might as well be a doughnut.”
Just call me a plain glazed...
